Cesar Chavez
March 31, 1927 - April 23, 1993. César Estrada Chávez was an American labor unionist and civil rights activist. He is best known for co-founding the United Farm Workers (UFW) union. He was less interested in large-scale policy involvement or charismatic speeches and chose to lead by doing. He was lauded for his grassroots approach to unionizing and protest, and by the 1970s the UFW was helping 50,000 farm laborers negotiate for better treatment.
